You’ve found your way here; let’s see if we’ve got a fair idea of who you might be.
You are probably interested in the larger questions in life and maybe more socially active than most. You care about the environment, human rights, and social justice. You are likely dissatisfied with mainstream society, and experience a sense of uneasiness around shopping malls and fast food chains. Yet you have a nagging feeling that the world could be a better place, and that you might just have a role to play in the transformation.
Maybe some of the characteristics below fit in your life:
Environmental - you’ve made your family recycle and you buy everything you can ecologically. You go by bicycle or public transportation instead of by car and you try to keep up to date on environmental news.
Activist - you participated in the world-wide demonstration against the war on Iraq, and maybe you attended the protests at Seattle or Gothenburg; you shop second hand, dig the work of Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky, and your backpack probably says something like ‘meat is murder.’
Volunteer - you have volunteered for the Red Cross or at the neighborhood soup kitchen. You dream of going to a far-off country to live among and help people from a different culture, or maybe you already have.
Spiritual - you meditate, do yoga, or some other contemplative practice. You feel a deep connection to people around you and you try to face aggression with compassion and openness. Nature is an important source of strength and insight to you and you feel more creative there.
Integral fan - ever since you picked up A brief history of everything, you’ve read all of Ken Wilber, including the (gasp!) footnotes. Well, all jokes aside, you’ve realized that the Integral approach is truly transformative and may be the only way to sustain healthy change - globally and personally.
Social Entrepreneur - maybe it started with the organic lemonade stand or the fair trade campaign in high school; now you’ve got a project or at least a project idea, and need some time and space to develop it.
Open - maybe you’ve suddenly just grown sick and tired of the mainstream and want to try something new. You want to make a difference and wouldn’t mind being part of an exciting project with likeminded people.
While we’ve taken a light-hearted tone here, these are not stereotypes, but instead linking characteristics of an emerging global culture. Many, many people want change, and are willing to work for it in their own unique way. Matrix Integral wants to bring all these people together to maximize our global impact.
So, you tired, you weary, you huddled masses yearning for change - huddle no more! We want you! We recognize your passion and desires. We agree with you and we want to help make your visions reality. Read on to see how you can get involved.
